Summer Training Camp    
       

BCG School Dojos closed on 27th & 28th March 2010
Members may note all the Bombay Cambridge Group of Schools' Dojos at Andherei (West), Andheri (East), Malad, Charkop and Borivali will be closed on Saturday 27th March & Sunday 28th March 2010 as the Instructor is participating in the 23rd AIKF Tournament which is being held in Chennai from the 26th to the 28th of March 2010


Summer Joint Training Camp for Dadar Dojos
The Annual Summer Training Camp for the Dadar Dojos was conducted in Mumbai by Sensei Anand Ratna on the 20th, 21st & 22nd April at the Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Vidyalaya in Malad upon returning from attending the 2010 Spring Masters International Training Camp at the JKA Honbu Dojo. The training was also open to other dojos and around 100 trainees took part in the Gasshuku. Emphasis was on the aspect of using the support leg for movement in Kihon, Kata and Kumite. The first day covered the basics and the Heian katas 1,2, 3 & 4 with applications being done with partner drills and basic Kihon Kumite slowly progressing to Jiyu Ippon and then to Jiyu Kumite. Day 2 covered the Heian kata 5 and Tekki shodan and the Kata Kanku Dai. Here again in order to understand the movement better, partner drills were asked to be performed for various movements. The afternoon session had katas Meikyo and Chinte being taught and finally ending the day with some kumite. Day three was devoted to the grading syllabus for kyu and Dan grade. Grading for JKA kyu Level and JKA Shodan was held on 22nd April. Outstation participants were lodged at the Andheri Sports Complex. Special Thanks to the Prinicpal and Staff of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Vidyalaya, Malad for their cooperation in helping the conduct of the camp and providing various facilities to the participants.


First Dojo Session for the year 2010
Sensei Anand Ratna will conduct the First Training session of the Year 2010 (Keiko Hajime) on the 4th of January. All members are requested to be present. Kagami Biraki will be held on 8th January 2010

Closing ceremony for the year 2009  

Last Dojo Session for the year 2009
The last training session for the year 2009 (Keiko Osame) was conducted by Sensei anand ratna on the 23rd of December 2009. The closing ceremnony had all the members of the dojo present for the training session. The First Training session of the Year 2010 (Keiko Hajime) will be on the 4th of January. The dojo will remain closed for winter vacation from Dec.24th 2009 to January 3rd 2010. The Chief Instructor & Instructors of Nihon Karate Kyokai Dadar wish all it's members and well wishers a very happy new year

Shodan Grading at Dadar Dojo
Grading for JKA Shodan will be held at the Dadar Dojo on the 14th of December. Special Dan training will be held from 6Pm to 7:30PM followed by the grading at 8PM.

Devika and Tanmay Borade Bereaved
Our Malad dojo's Shodans Devika & Tanmay Borade lost their Father recently. The members of the our club extend their sincere condolences to the bereaved family. May his soul R.I.P.

The NIHON KARATE KYOKAI, DADAR hereby informs the Indian Karate Fraternity and the General Public that Mr. Sitaram Chavan and Mr. Subhash Nair are no longer instructors with or are in no way connected to the Nihon Karate Kyokai, Dadar or to Chief Instructor Sensei Anand Ratna.

Dan Grade Examinations conducted at Mid Term Training Camp
Dan Grade examinations were conducted by Sensei Anand during the Mid Term Camp. Amongst those who appeared successfully for the Shodan Examination were Instructors from Satara & Karad - Pardesi and Pasad.

Anand Sensei awarded Special Rights Examiner status
our Chief Instructor, Sensei Anand Ratna was conferred with the Title of Special Rights Examiner by the JKA Headquarters. With this qualification, Sensei Ratna can conduct JKA Dan Grade Examination. The certifcate was awarded to Sensei Ratna by the Chairman of the JKA during a presentation ceremony at the International Masters Camp at the JKA Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan in October 2008. He is the first Non Japanese Asian to be awarded this title by the JKA. We are proud of you Sensei.

Mid Term Training Camp 22nd, 23rd & 24th October 2008
Sensei Anand Ratna will be conducting the Dadar Dojo's Annual Mid Term Camp on the above dates at the Bombay Cambridge School, Andheri East. Sensei who has just returned after attending the Autumn Master's Camp at the JKA Headquarters will also be conducting grading upto JKA Shodan on the 24th of October. Only a limited number of students are being admitted for the camp. Last date for registration is 20th October 2008.


DADAR DOJOS JOINT SUMMER TRAINING CAMP

The Dadar dojo conducted it's Summer Joint Training camp at the Bombay University Indoor Sports Pavilion. from the 26th of April to the 28th of April 2008. The main instructor for the camp was Sensei Anand Ratna.
This year a number of outstation trainees attended the camp. A total of 5 training sessions were held. The emphasis was on proper usage of musculature during kihon. Most of the trainees were black belts. Advanced Kihon Kumite leading to Jiyu kumite was also taught on the second day. The Sentei Gata taught during the camp were Tekki Nidan and Gankaku. Photos

Mumbai University Championships
Divya Revankar, our dojo instructor at the DSR schools retained her below 48kgs Women's Individual kumite title as well as the Women's Open Weight Category Individual kumite titles in grand style. Divya also took the 2nd place in the Individual Kata Event. in the Mumbai University Championships for the year 2007-2008 held at Ulhasnagar on the 16th March 2008.

Divya Revankar retains National Kumite Title
Divya Revankar, our dojo instructor at the DSR schools retained her Women's Individual kumite title in grand style by defeating arch rival Linza Syiem from Meghalaya in the finals of the 25th JKA All India Senior Karate Championships held at the Andheri Sports Complex from the 31st January & 1st February 2008.Divya also took the 2nd place in the Individual Kata Event. Manish Jadli claimed the 3rd place in the Men's Individual Kata Event and Surendra Tiwari along with Amar Yadav and Akshay Vernekar took the 2nd spot in both Team Kata and the first place in the Team Kumite Event.

Dadar Dojo Instructors pass Dan and Technical Tests
Stany Dcosta, Surinder Tiwari, Manish Jadli all gave their Dan grading during this years National Program. Manish Jadli passed his Techncial qualification Judges C and Examiner's D levels.

Mid Term Training Camp 4th 5th & 6th November 2007
The Dadar dojo conducted it's Mid Term Traiing camp from the 4th of November to the 6th of November 2007 at the Bombay Campbridge School Ancheri East. . The main instructor was Sensei Anand Ratna.

Dadar Main Dojo closed from 3rd October to 10th October 2007.
The Dadar Main dojo will be closed from the 3rd of October to the 10th of October 2007 as Sensei Anand will be out of town for this period.

Divya Revankar retains National Kumite Title
Divya Revankar, our dojo instructor at the DSR schools retained her below 48kgs Women's Individual kumite title in grand style by defeating Assam girl Priya 8-0 for a clean win in the finals of the 20th All India Karate-do Federation Senior National Karate Championships held at the Andheri Sports Complex from the 26th to 28th July 2007. Divya is also selected to represent the county at the Asian Karate Federation Championships to be held in Malaysia in August in the below 48kgs category.

DADAR DOJOS JOINT SUMMER TRAINING CAMP
The Joint TrainingCamp was held at the Andheri Sports Complex from 20th, to 22nd April 2007first session which consisted of Karate etiquette and basic kihon. In the afternoon, Sensei SitaramChavan and SenseiPrakash Sorap took the sessions for the Non Black Belts consisting of the Heian Katas. While Sensei Ratna taught the black Belts Tekki Nidan the designated kata for the Camp.The 3rd and 4th sessions for the black belts and the brown belts was conducted by Sensei Karl Naorojifrom New Zealand the Guest Instructor for the Camp who conducted Kihon Kumite and taught katas Jutteand Kata Gankaku, while Sensei Ratna took the sessions for the Below Brown Belts The Third days sessions were devoted to the grading syllabus and in the afternoon kyu examinations were conducted. Sensei Ratna also ensured that everyone in the camp was made aware of the Dojo Kun and it's significance in charectar building. Copies were distributed to all the participants and everyone made to recite the dojo kun. This year students of Sensei Raju Raykar dojos from Khar and Sensei Sachin Chavan from Borivali also attended the camp. The students and the parents of these first timers to Sensei Ratna's camp were all praise for the manner in which the students were taught. Sensei Naorojie specially was praised by all the black belt participants. This year had participants from Stara, Pune, Sangli Districts. The dojo had made arrangements for free stay of the participants in the complex.

SENSEI RATNA PARTICIPATES IN JKA MASTER'S CAMP IN TOKYO
Sensei Anand Ratna, our Chief Instructor once again participated in the JKA Spring Camp at the Hombu
and reached yet another height in his illustrious career when he passed the next level of the
JKA's technical qualifications for instructor and examiner grades in Japan. He gave JKA's highest grade
for Instructor which is grade A of the JKA and the Examiner's B level, becoming the first non Japanese
Asian to have these levels. Sensei now holds A level in Instructoion and Judging which very few non
Japanese around the globe have. Congratulations Sensei. He was accompanied by Sensei Karl
Naoroji his student who now lives in New Zealand and runs a dojo there. A detailed report on the camp is

Dadar Dojo Instructors pass Dan and Technical Tests
at MASTER TANAKA'S Training Camp
Bhagyashri Khot passed her Yon Dan while. Divya Revankar Instructor of Malad and Jogy ThomasInstructor from Kerala passed Nidan. All Dadar Dojo members who appeared for their Shodan passed. The Dojo had a 100% pass rate this year.Congratulations to all the Instructors.

Bombay University Championships - Divya Wins Gold.
Held on the 10th & 11th of January 2007. Divya Revankar wins open title and also bagged the bronze in Kata. Congratulations

SASAKI SHOICHI SENSEI'S 40TH PREFECTURE ANNIVERSARY
Anand Sensei attended the 40th Anniversary of the JKA Akita Prefecture which was held on the 3rd of September 2006, in Honjo City, followed by the Akita Prefectural Tournament. Anand Sensei was given the unique honour of becoming the first India to sit on the Dias during the Championships. He was also one of the main referees. Anand Sensei also spoke on the occassion during the celebratory function and presented Sasaki Sensei with a momento. Tanaka Masahiko Sensei was the Guest of Honor and the JKA Headquarters Invited personality for the  occassion. Anand Sensei also finalized next year's program with Tanaka Sensei.

Anand Sensei became the first Non Japanese Asian to become the Chief of the court in the Junior Championships and also as Chief Referee in the finals of JKAWorld Championships in Sydney, Australia when he judged the finals of the Women's Team Kata Event.

30 YEARS COMPLETED OF DADAR DOJO
June 17th marks the completion of 30 years of the Dojo. To commemorate
this occassion the Inter Dojo Tournament will have an invitational
event for Seniors and Juniors both Men and women. Dojo Taikai

SAF GAMES SELECTIONS
Divya Revankar was selected as standby to represent the country
for the under 48kgs. Kumite Event for the South Asian Federation Games
National Team Selections conducted by the All India Karate-do
Federation on the 27th & 28th May 2006 in Mumbai. She was also part
of the Women's Team Kata for the same Games.

Dadar students excell in Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Mini Olympic Meet in Mumbai
Instructors and students of the Dadar Dojo participated in the All style meet organized by Ex M.P.
Sanjay Nirupam at the Goregaon Sports Club.on the 16th 17th & 18th May 2006. Sahil Desai, Divya
Revankar, Sayili Kadam, Siddhi Rale all won golds, while Harshal and Asmita won Silver
and Divya, Shivang, Shreyas, Aakashand Jainil won Bronze medals.

The 3 youngsters from the Prabhodan Kreeda Bhavan will be joined by 9 others to participate in the JKA' s Tri Annual Event
renamed the Funakshi Gichin 10th World Karate-do Championships to be held in the Olympic Park Stadium in
Sydney. The Indian Contingent led by Sensei Anand Ratna will have Sensei Stephen Leong from Meghalaya as the Coach for
the Team. Anand Sensei will be refereeing in the Championships and representing the country at the World Conference.

Anand Sensei attends Spring Camp in JKA Hombu Dojo
Anand Sensei attended the Spring 2006 International Masters Camp in the
JKA Hombu Dojo in Tokyo from 13th -- 16th of April.Karl Naoroji, the
Dojo's Instructor now settled in New Zealand and runs a dojo in Auckland
was also present and accompanied Anand Sensei after the Camp to train
for a fewdays in Sasaki Shihan's Dojo in Akita. A detailed report on the

REVANKARS STRIKE GOLD
Divya Revankar and her younger brother Aniket both of whom now assist
as instructors of the Dadar Dojo struck Gold in Kumite in their respective
weight categories at the recently concluded Inter Collegiate Championships
of the Bombay University. Divya also got the Bronze in Individual Kata.
Surendra Tiwari also Assisitant Instructor got the Bronze medal in Kata.
Congratulations to them.

Dadar Dojo Instructors Divya Revankar won Gold for Women's Kumite and
Silver for kata at the Mumbai Mayors Cup.

Dojo Winners at the 23rd JKA India Nationals
Dadar Dojo Instructors did well in the 23rd JKA All India Tournament .Divya Revankar who is the assistant instructor at the DSRV Malad School became the National Women's Kata Champion and narrowly missed scoring a double when she lost the Women's Kumite final.
