The NIHON KARATE KYOKAI, DADAR hereby informs the Indian Karate Fraternity and the General Public that Mr. Sitaram Chavan and Mr. Subhash Nair are no longer instructors with or are in no way connected to the Nihon Karate Kyokai, Dadar or to Chief Instructor Sensei Anand Ratna. |
Mid Term Training Camp 22nd, 23rd & 24th October 2008 |
| Sensei Anand Ratna will be conducting the Dadar Dojo's Annual Mid Term Camp on the above dates at the Bombay Cambridge School, Andheri East. Sensei who has just returned after attending the Autumn Master's Camp at the JKA Headquarters will also be conducting grading upto JKA Shodan on the 24th of October. Only a limited number of students are being admitted for the camp. Last date for registration is 20th October 2008. |
JUDE PINTO EXCELLS IN JKA W/F AMERICA NATIONAL MEET |
| The Dadar Dojo's past Champions have continued their winning ways with their offspring emulating their father. Savio Pinto's son continued the winning ways of his father by becoming the US National champion in his age Group winning the Gold medal in Kumite and the silver in Kata. at the recently concluded US National championships. Father, Savio still fighting fit in his middle age still came into the best eight in both Kata and Kumite. Congratulations Jude, you make us proud. |
NAOROJI SISTERS EXCELL IN JKA NEW ZEALAND NATIONAL MEET |
Both Jenny and Afreen Naoroji, daughters of Karl Naoroji excelled at the JKA New Zealand National meet. Karl's dojo did exceedingly well
at the recently held 18th National Karate Championships on 16th August 2008. 150-175 karatekas from all over New Zealand participated in this event held at the Springvale Stadium, Whanganui. The performance of the members in this event just concluded, will more or less directly effect team selections for the Karate World Championships which will be held in Tokyo, Japan in Sep 2009.

The Nihon Karate Kyokai Dadar will be hosting it's 16th Inter Dojo Championships on the 16th and 17th of August 2008 at the Mumbai University Sports Pavilion. This year Sensei Anand has invited all the JKA Maharashtra dojos to participate in the Tournament. The Tournament has 2 sections for Individual Events. There is a section for participants below Brown Belts and one for participants above Brown Belts.Team Events however can have participants from both Groups. |
DADAR
DOJOS JOINT SUMMER TRAINING CAMP |
The Dadar dojo conducted it's Summer Joint Training camp at the Bombay University Indoor Sports Pavilion. from the 26th of April to the 28th of April 2008. The main instructor for the camp was Sensei Anand Ratna.
This year a number of outstation trainees attended the camp. A total of 5 training sessions were held. The emphasis was on proper usage of musculature during kihon. Most of the trainees were black belts. Advanced Kihon Kumite leading to Jiyu kumite was also taught on the second day. The Sentei Gata taught during the camp were Tekki Nidan and Gankaku. Photos |

| Divya Revankar, our dojo instructor at the DSR schools retained her below 48kgs Women's Individual kumite title as well as the Women's Open Weight Category Individual kumite titles in grand style. Divya also took the 2nd place in the Individual Kata Event. in the Mumbai University Championships for the year 2007-2008 held at Ulhasnagar on the 16th March 2008. |

| Divya Revankar, our dojo instructor at the DSR schools retained her Women's Individual kumite title in grand style by defeating arch rival Linza Syiem from Meghalaya in the finals of the 25th JKA All India Senior Karate Championships held at the Andheri Sports Complex from the 31st January & 1st February 2008.Divya also took the 2nd place in the Individual Kata Event. Manish Jadli claimed the 3rd place in the Men's Individual Kata Event and Surendra Tiwari along with Amar Yadav and Akshay Vernekar took the 2nd spot in both Team Kata and the first place in the Team Kumite Event. |

| Stany Dcosta, Surinder Tiwari, Manish Jadli all gave their Dan grading during this years National Program. Manish Jadli passed his Techncial qualification Judges C and Examiner's D levels. |
Mid Term Training Camp 4th 5th & 6th November 2007 |
| The Dadar dojo conducted it's Mid Term Traiing camp from the 4th of November to the 6th of November 2007 at the Bombay Campbridge School Ancheri East. . The main instructor was Sensei Anand Ratna.

Divya Revankar retains National Kumite Title |
| Divya Revankar, our dojo instructor at the DSR schools retained her below 48kgs Women's Individual kumite title in grand style by defeating Assam girl Priya 8-0 for a clean win in the finals of the 20th All India Karate-do Federation Senior National Karate Championships held at the Andheri Sports Complex from the 26th to 28th July 2007. Divya is also selected to represent the county at the Asian Karate Federation Championships to be held in Malaysia in August in the below 48kgs category. |

Mumbai City Inter Schools Tournament

| Mr. Sandeep Gade of the Mumbai City District Karate Association (MCDKA) of which our dojo is a member has informed us that the above tournament will be held between 11th & 13th Septembert 2007. Instructors who have dojos in the Greater Mumbai Region and are members of JKA may kindly collect the details from the DSO office. |

DOJOS JOINT SUMMER TRAINING CAMP |
| The
Joint TrainingCamp was held at the Andheri Sports Complex from 20th, to 22nd April
2007first session which consisted
of Karate etiquette and basic kihon. In the afternoon, Sensei SitaramChavan
and SenseiPrakash Sorap took the sessions for the Non Black Belts consisting of
the Heian Katas. While Sensei
Ratna taught the black Belts Tekki Nidan the designated kata for the Camp.The
3rd and 4th sessions for the black belts and the brown belts was conducted by
Sensei Karl Naorojifrom
New Zealand the Guest Instructor for the Camp who conducted Kihon Kumite and taught
katas Jutteand
Kata Gankaku, while Sensei Ratna took the sessions for the Below Brown Belts The
Third days sessions
were devoted to the grading syllabus and in the afternoon kyu examinations were
conducted. Sensei
Ratna also ensured that everyone in the camp was made aware of the Dojo Kun and
it's significance
in charectar building. Copies were distributed to all the participants and everyone
made to recite
the dojo kun. This year students of Sensei Raju Raykar dojos from Khar and Sensei
Sachin Chavan from
Borivali also attended the camp. The students and the parents of these first timers
to Sensei Ratna's
camp were all praise for the manner in which the students were taught. Sensei
Naorojie specially
was praised by all the black belt participants. This year had participants from
Stara, Pune, Sangli
Districts. The dojo had made arrangements for free stay of the participants in
the complex. |

RATNA PARTICIPATES IN JKA MASTER'S CAMP IN TOKYO | | Sensei
Anand Ratna, our Chief Instructor once again participated in the JKA Spring Camp
at the Hombu | | and reached yet
another height in his illustrious career when he passed the next level of the | |
JKA's technical qualifications for instructor and examiner grades in Japan. He
gave JKA's highest grade | | for
Instructor which is grade A of the JKA and the Examiner's B level, becoming the
first non Japanese | | Asian to
have these levels. Sensei now holds A level in Instructoion and Judging which
very few non | | Japanese around
the globe have. Congratulations Sensei. He was accompanied by Sensei Karl | |
Naoroji his student who now lives in New Zealand and runs a dojo there. A detailed

SASAKI
SHOICHI SENSEI'S 40TH PREFECTURE ANNIVERSARY | | Anand
Sensei attended the 40th Anniversary of the JKA Akita Prefecture which was held
on the 3rd
of September 2006, in Honjo City, followed by
the Akita Prefectural Tournament. Anand Sensei
was given the unique honour of becoming the first India to sit on the Dias during
the Championships.
He was also one of the main referees. Anand Sensei also spoke on the occassion
during the celebratory function and presented Sasaki Sensei with a momento. Tanaka
Masahiko
Sensei was the Guest of Honor and the JKA Headquarters Invited personality for
the occassion. Anand Sensei also finalized next year's
program with Tanaka Sensei. |
